Beliefs

In the beginning God ...
 

1. We believe that God is eternally self-existent in three persons, Father, Son, Spirit.

• Father, abba, indicates the relationship we can have with sovereign God.
• Son, the Christ, reveals God to us and makes relationship possible.
• Spirit, the Comforter, is sent to draw people to and indwell those who believe in God.

 

Then God said, "Let us make man in our image...and man became a living soul"
 

2. We believe that man is the highest of Gods’ creation and is created with the ability to enjoy a relationship with God.

• Mind, gives the capacity to comprehend God.
• Emotion, gives the capacity to enjoy God.
• Will, gives the capacity to choose God.

 

"As by one man sin entered into the world..."

3. We believe that in an act of disobedience, man and woman chose to follow their desires instead of God’s directions resulting in a broken relationship.

• Sin is "missing the mark" or anything short of perfection.
• Everybody misses the mark.
• The result of sin is separation from God.

 

"Heaven is my throne…in hell he lifted up his eyes. "
 

4. We believe that heaven and hell are literal places designated by God for two literal groups of people.

• Heaven is God’s dominion and those who choose to believe and love God will dwell with Him eternally.
• Hell is designed for those who choose to oppose God and reject Him, including Satan and his followers.
• Heaven is God’s plan. Hell is Satan’s deception.

"Through the obedience of one many will be made righteous..."
 

5. We believe that in an act of obedience to the Father, Jesus, the Son, paid the penalty for sin and made it possible again for man to have a relationship with God.

• God desires and makes possible an eternal relationship with man.
• Man has the capacity to respond to God in relationship.
• Man must believe God.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
 

6. We believe that the Bible is God’s revelation of Himself and His plan to man and contains instructions for abundant life and eternal life.

• In it’s original form the Bible is without error.
• The Bible contains the complete revelation of God to man.
• The Bible instructs man how to live to please God.

"And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved."
 

7. We believe that the church is a group of believers gathering to represent God in our world.

• Believers gather for teaching and instruction to learn about God.
• Believers gather for support and encouragement to live for God.
• Believers gather to work together to show God to others.

Morning Star chooses to affiliate with the churches of the Southern Baptist Convention.

God desires a relationship with you for eternity with Him in Heaven. You may choose a relationship with God by agreeing with these beliefs. Your prayer may be as simple as “Lord, I believe.” If you would like to further discuss your relationship with God contact one of our pastors.
